Program Notes
The sixth prelude of Debussy’s first book (1910), arranged for Pierrot ensemble. Debussy asked that its repeated figure carry “the sonorous value of a sad, frozen landscape”; here that figure sits in the alto flute and bass clarinet.
Performance Notes
Alto flute (doubling flute), bass clarinet, violin, cello, and piano. Slow, exposed, and very soft.
